Birding
The Mountain Pine Ridge, located in the heart of Belize, is a critical raptor (bird of prey) hotspot in Central America for both resident and migrant species. Extremely rare and endangered Neotropical raptors such as the elusive Solitary Eagle, Orange-breasted Falcon and Stygian Owl are fairly common amongst the 34 species of raptors that are found in the region. With this uninhabited and unique habitat being cut by many ravine and canyon streams, many eco-zones are formed resulting in a high number of endemic species and large concentration of raptors.

“Blancaneaux Lodge is a true gem in the heart of one of the most unique ecosystems in Central America with many endemic species just outside of your cabana, such as Stygian Owl, Black-headed Siskin, Rufous-capped Warbler, Great Pewee and Solitary Eagle. Well over 300 species of birds can be observed in the area making it a birder’s paradise and a must-see destination. Within a short distance of the resort you can be in broadleaf rainforest enjoying the emphatic call of the Barred Forest-Falcon and awed by the beauty of the Green Honeycreeper”
