Birding & Raptor Conservation

The unique location of Blancaneaux Lodge provides excellent bird watching opportunities. By partnering with Ryan Phillips and the Belize Raptor Research Institute (BRRI) our guides help locate, monitor and protect raptor nests and tag the chicks. Guests can accompany our guides during field trips to observation points for data collection for raptor research focusing on the solitary eagle, ornate hawk eagle and orange-breasted Falcon. In January and June, our staff organizes bird counts for the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve and guests are welcome to participate.

We can also arrange specific treks to observe rare individual species such as keel-billed motmot, orange-breasted Falcon, stygian owl and ornate hawk eagle.

Please note scheduling may vary on all Educational Workshops. Contact us directly for more detailed information and availability. A portion of all the Workshop fees will be donated to the respective conservation or research groups involved.
