Hard to Leave the Peaceful Setting
The food, breakfast, lunch and dinner were outstanding – the staff packed a huge lunch for our trip to Tikal where they introduced us to a highly knowledgeable guide. The staff was one of the best assets, so warm and friendly and always quick to assist…although there are many excursions to take, it is hard to leave the peaceful setting of the lodge. Much of our time was spent sitting on the porch with our binoculars, reading books and waiting for the monkeys to return.
Cara Scottsdale of Los Angeles, California, USALa Lancha was Incredibly Enjoyable
Our stay at La Lancha was incredibly enjoyable. We loved the layout of La Lancha, built on a hillside with many steps leading to and from all rooms and common places. This provided for excellent views and a feeling you were ‘in the trees’ at times. We stayed for 7 nights, allowing us to do many activities as well as days on our own…Tours. We did Tikal, Ceibal, the combo of the lake and Flores, the Skyway, and the self guided through the nature preserve. Ceibal and the Skyway were our favorite. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We like to chat with the staff and they loved showing us the toucans and quetzals in the trees. Our tour guide, Antonio, was extremely knowledgeable not only on Mayan archaeology but on medicinal plants and the flora and fauna of the jungle.
Natalia Love of North Carolina, USAA Real Treasure
The hotel is set on the hillside on the shores of Lake Peten Itza and even from the Rainforest Casitas you get a great view of the lake, which is really beautiful. Each evening the staff come around and discuss what your plans are for the next day, whether you would like to arrange any activities etc. We booked the tour of Tikal and our guide Antonio was amazing. He seemed to know everything and everyone and was a real treasure.
